Monthly committee meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm in the Covenant classroom. If you are interested in being a part of the committee, new members are brought on each year for a three-year rotation of service. Listed below are all of our current mission opportunities offered at First United Methodist Church and how you can serve! Contact the church office to volunteer with any of these missions at 501-778-3601)

Food Pantry and Blessings Box

FUMC Benton works with Project Hope Food Bank to distribute food to help feed our neighbors in Benton. We share this mainly through stocking our Blessings Box, found on the corner of Market & Sevier Streets. Food delivery is the first Wednesday morning of every month.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: volunteer to restock the Blessings Box (restock twice a day). Help with restocking the food pantry (second Wednesday of the month).

Community Utility Assistance

FUMC Benton assists our neighbors who are in need of utilities assistance with the monies collected monthly left on the altar rail during communion.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Donate to the Communion Fund to help our neighbors with utilities assistance through regular giving, or monthly during communion.

Feeding Ministries

Our Monday Night Meal feeds all who walk in the door - both body and soul! Additionally, we have a team who serves at Stone Soup, a feeding ministry out of Quapaw UMC in Little Rock, every 5th Sunday.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: volunteer for Monday Night Meal (mondaynightmeal@fumcbenton.org); serve at Stone Soup.

CJCOHN

Churches Joint Council On Human Needs (CJCOHN), a non-profit association of 15 Saline County churches, has been providing food, clothing and other services to low-income county residents since 1976.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: donate monthly to their “item of the month,” volunteer preparing distribution of food on the first and third Wednesdays of the month

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County is part of a global nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seek to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: volunteer on a build site with our church’s “Tuesday Crew,” on our yearly “Apostles’ Build,” drop off a case of water in the church office for Habitat for Humanity volunteers, and/or give financially.

Out of State Missions

Out-of-State Missions - starting in 2021, we are growing in relationships with our Native sisters and brothers in Oklahoma and Southwestern US to help alleviate water insecurity on reservations. We also have plans on sending a team to Sager Brown, LA - UMCOR supply depot in Louisiana.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: be on the lookout for fellowship and future service opportunities!

Seasonal Missions
