Project Transformation

Project Transformation is a national program of the United Methodist Church. Every year hundreds of young adults commit a summer or year of their lives to serve and build relationships with children and youth, and live in intentional community. and explore a call to ministry and service.

Project Transformation of Arkansas provides a summer reading program for the under-resourced neighborhoods, currently in the Pine Bluff area. Where 4 out of 5 children are reading behind grade level. The lack of a summer reading is a key contributor to the growing opportunity gap.

This year, Benton FUMC is seeking at least 10 volunteers who can participate in PT Arkansas. A van will be leaving the Conway Street parking lot on Mondays at 9 AM. We will arrive at our designated church in Pine Bluff and work with the children as they read books to the volunteers. We will be done at the church around 12 noon and will eat lunch in Pine Bluff/White Hall and then return to Benton no later than 2 PM.

The dates we are serving are June 12, June 26, July 3, July 10, July 17 and July 24, You have to be at least 13 years of age or older and for those over 18, you will need to complete a Safe Gatherings Training Course. You can sign up for each date or pick and choose your days that fit your schedule.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Bro. Garry Teeter at garry.teeter@fumcbenton.org or call the church office at 501-778-3601!
